Empowered for a Purpose: Witnesses Through The Spirit

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The Holy Spirit’s Power for Witness
God’s Timing
Acts 1:6-8 captures the disciples’ final moments with the risen Jesus. “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” they ask.
Jesus answers, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power,” reminding them that God’s timetable for the Kingdom is His alone. As disciples of Christ, our role from here isn’t to speculate on dates but to focus on our God given purpose in the Gospel.
Power from on High
Jesus declares, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you.” The promise isn’t earthy political triumph but supernatural empowerment.
The Holy Spirit will come upon us, filling us with supernatural power. This power isn’t for personal gain or comfort. It equips us to carry out the Great Commission. The same Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead now empowers us to serve God.
Witnesses for Christ
Jesus declares, “And ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
The call to witness begins at home and expands outward. No place is excluded. The Gospel must be preached to everyone including neighbors, outsiders, and strangers. Through the Spirit, we become faithful witnesses of the Lord’s death, resurrection, and saving grace.
Receive Supernatural Power
Today, forget questions of timing and receive the Spirit’s power for purpose. Let the Holy Spirit fill you and empower you as a witness for Jesus so that your life, words, and actions can lead others to salvation, even in the uttermost parts of the earth.
OFG Prayer of Faith
Holy Spirit,
Thank You for Your supernatural power. Redirect my heart from speculation to obedience. Empower me to be a witness for Jesus in every sphere. Fill me afresh and send me boldly.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
