Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Supernatural Revelation
Luke 24:45 tells us that supernatural revelation of the Scriptures precedes true recognition of the Gospel message: “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,” it affirms.
The Lord Jesus did not leave His disciples in confusion but opened their minds supernaturally so they could understand the Scriptures. True recognition of the Gospel is achieved when Jesus reveals His Word to an individual personally. Without this supernatural enablement, we remain blind to the Biblical Gospel.
The Cross and Resurrection
Verse 46 confirms the heart of the message: “Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day.”
The finished work of Christ on the cross was prophesied in the Old Testament, revealing the Suffering Servant who would die and rise again for the sins of the world. His resurrection proved victory over death, and the Biblical Gospel rests on this finished work.
Repentance and Faith
Verse 47 aligns the true call to action: “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
The Biblical Gospel includes a clear call to turn from sin and receive forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance and faith belong together, and this is the message that is to be preached among all nations. The Gospel revelation is not a private affair but a public proclamation to repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
Live and Speak the Gospel
Today, ask the Lord for supernatural revelation of the Scriptures and full recognition of the Gospel. Turn from sin in genuine repentance and rest in His forgiveness purchased for you on the cross. Pray for God’s grace to live and speak the message that begins with the sacrifice of the Savior and ends in transformed lives for His glory.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving me comprehension of the Scriptures through the revelation of Jesus. Help me trust completely in His sacrifice and resurrection and lead me into true repentance and faith. Give me boldness to proclaim forgiveness of sins in His name for Your glory.
