Trusting in His Grace: Living by Faith in Christ

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
Living by Faith in Christ
Crucified with Christ
Galatians 2:20–21 unveils a transformative truth about our new life in Jesus: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me,” Paul declares.
When we trust in Christ, our old self, bound to sin and self-reliance, dies with Him on the cross. We now live, not by our own strength, but because Christ Himself dwells within us. This is the reality of a life surrendered to Him.
Faith in the Son of God
The verse continues, “And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Our daily existence hinges on faith in Jesus, the One who loved us enough to die in our place.
This faith isn’t a one-time act but a continual trust, shaping every choice, every moment. His love and sacrifice fuel our purpose, reminding us we’re never alone in the struggles of our life in this world.
Rejecting Self-Righteousness
Paul then warns, “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” To rely on our own efforts for righteousness “frustrates” or nullifies God’s grace in Jesus.
The law can’t save us. Only Christ’s death and resurrection can. Clinging to self-righteousness dishonors His sacrifice. Instead, we embrace grace, trusting His finished work on the cross rather than our flawed attempts.
Christ in Us
Today, let Christ live through you. Your old ways are crucified, don’t resurrect them. Lean into faith, trusting the One who gave Himself for you. Rest in His grace, knowing your righteousness comes from Him alone. Live boldly, for Jesus is your hope and strength.
