Sealed With the Spirit: The Holy Spirit in Salvation

Ephesians 1:12–14 unveils our purpose in Christ. “That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ,” it begins. As believers, our lives are meant to glorify God. Those who first trusted in Jesus set the pattern, but this call extends to us.
Our faith in Jesus isn’t just about personal salvation. It’s a powerful testimony to the glory of God, reflecting His sovereign grace and power in a world that needs His light.
Trusting the Gospel Truth
The passage continues, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.” Salvation begins with hearing the Gospel truth of Christ’s vicarious death and victorious resurrection.
Trusting this truth transforms us through faith in God’s revealed Word. The moment we believe in Christ and the Gospel, we’re drawn into His redemptive plan, no longer strangers and foreigners but children of God by His grace.
Sealed by the Spirit
Paul affirms, “In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession.” The Holy Spirit seals us, marking us as God’s treasured possessions.
This seal is our guarantee, a divine pledge of our eternal inheritance. The Holy Spirit assures us of full redemption, securing our place in God’s family until the return of Christ. His presence empowers us now and forever.
