Justified in Christ: The Free Gift of Grace in Salvation

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
A Gift Beyond Measure
The Universal Fall
Romans 3:23–26 reveals the heart of the Gospel, a truth both sobering and liberating. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
These words level the ground beneath us. No one escapes this reality. From the most upright to the most wayward, we all fall short of God’s perfect standard. Sin is a chasm separating us from God. Left to ourselves, we’d remain lost, unable to bridge that gap.
Grace Freely Given
Thankfully, the story doesn’t end there. God, in His boundless grace, offers a gift we could never earn: “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Being declared righteous through Justification has nothing to do with our merits, but is a free act of God’s divine grace in Christ.
Jesus, the spotless Lamb, became our redemption. His blood, shed on the cross, satisfied God’s justice, becoming the “propitiation” for our sins, in an awesome revelation of God’s righteousness and mercy intertwined.
The Just and Justifier
Through faith in Christ’s sacrifice, we find forgiveness for “sins that are past.” God’s forbearance in patiently holding back judgment, gave way to this moment of grace. He is both “just and the justifier.”
God doesn’t overlook sin, He conquers it through Jesus, maintaining His holiness while embracing the believer. The same God who condemns sin justifies the sinner who trusts in the finished work of His Only-Begotten Son.
Live Justified
Today, let this truth sink deeply. You’re not too far gone. Christ’s blood covers every failure. Believe in Him and stand justified, not by your merit but by His grace. Live in awe of a God who is both righteous and relational, having prepared a place for you in His glory forever.
OFG Prayer of Faith
Heavenly Father,
I stand in awe of Your grace. Thank You for sending Jesus to bridge the gap my sin created. Forgive me where I’ve fallen short, and strengthen my faith in His redeeming blood. Help me live as one justified, reflecting Your righteousness and love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
